A new store was needed to grow sales in further channels
Piece of Case is a Polish brand founded in 2016 that makes protective cases and accessories for smartphones.
Before the project began, the store ran on a platform based on SaaS software. That solution turned out to be unintuitive and impractical both for the people running the store and for its customers.
Piece of Case came to Aurora Creation needing a new online store, one whose launch would let the brand extend its business into further sales channels.
The platform was built with Magento 2 and Aurora Creation's own template. Using it was meant to save time and optimise the cost of launching the store.

The areas the new platform had to cover
- 01
Moving off the SaaS platform
The solution in place was unintuitive and impractical both for the people running the store and for its customers. Piece of Case needed a new store, one that would let it grow its business in further sales channels.
- 02
Running several sales channels
The project covered integrating the store with BaseLinker. Delivering it made it possible to automate the handling of several sales channels.
- 03
More ways of sorting products
Magento 2's native functionality allowed the range to be sorted by name, price and position. Piece of Case wanted to give customers a wider choice of options and cut the time it takes to find the right product.
- 04
Visible availability of a particular case
The store needed a feature letting a customer quickly check whether the case they had chosen was in stock, and in what quantity.
- 05
Generating photos for a wide range
Piece of Case needed a solution that would automatically fit the chosen pattern to a particular phone model and cut the need to prepare separate image files every time.
What the implementation covered
The project covered building the new Magento 2 platform, preparing individual designs, integrating with external channels and creating the modules Piece of Case needed.

A Magento 2 build on an in-house template
The sales platform was built using Aurora Creation's own template. Individual designs were also prepared, among them the home page, the product page and the elements of the site's style.
- 02
Integration with BaseLinker and Ceneo
The store was integrated with BaseLinker and Ceneo. The BaseLinker integration made it possible to automate the handling of several sales channels.
- 03
Connecting the store to Instagram
A custom module connecting the store to the Piece of Case profile on Instagram was delivered. The feature shows the brand's posts in a designated block on the store's home page.
- 04
Extending sorting and stock information
The custom Improved Sorting module was delivered, extending the product sorting methods, together with a module showing the level of product availability in the store.
- 05
The product photo configurator
A module was built to generate product photos with a chosen pattern for the available smartphone models, without having to prepare separate image files every time.
Magento 2 joined to external channels and to custom modules
The foundation of the new store is the Magento 2 platform.
The project covered integrations with BaseLinker and Ceneo, a connection between the store and Instagram, and custom features covering sorting, product availability and the generation of product photos.
External connections
BaseLinker

Ceneo
The Piece of Case store's integration with the Ceneo price comparison site.

Improved Sorting
Five extra product sorting methods.
The product availability module
The stock level of the chosen case.
The product photo configurator
Photos with a chosen pattern for the available smartphone models.
Product photos generated automatically for many phone models
The same pattern on a case for a different phone model is a different product photo. With a range the size of Piece of Case's, that would mean preparing a separate visual for every variant — by hand, in a graphics program, every time.
Using Magento 2, we built a module that assembles the product photo itself: a base graphic and a chosen phone model produce the right visual, ready to use in the product's listing.
The work that used to mean creating separate image files in software like Photoshop leaves the process. The store's staff can add new items without waiting on artwork for each variant. The source material gives no count of models, patterns or generated variants, so we state no scale here.
How a photo is generated
- A base graphic
- A phone model chosen
- The right visual assembled automatically
- The image in the product listing
The features delivered for Piece of Case
Instagram posts on the home page
A custom module connects the store to the brand's Instagram profile and shows the posts published there in a dedicated block on the home page.

Extended product sorting
The custom Improved Sorting module extended the available product sorting methods with five more: newest, cheapest, most expensive, most popular and on promotion.
Product availability information
The module shows the level of products available in the store. A customer can check whether the case they have chosen is in stock, and in what quantity.

The product photo configurator
The module generates product photos with a chosen pattern for every available smartphone model, without separate image files having to be prepared each time.
Individual designs for the store's key views
Individual designs were prepared as part of the project, among them the home page, the product page and the elements of the site's style.
A new Magento 2 platform and further sales channels
Building on Magento 2 and fitting the platform to what Piece of Case needed made it possible to start selling in new channels and to widen the brand's presence on the market.
Using an in-house template optimised the time it took to build the new store while keeping it open to modification and further growth. The BaseLinker integration automated the handling of several sales channels, and the photo configurator made adding new items to the store faster.

The store was built on Magento 2, on Aurora Creation's own template. Individual designs were also produced as part of the project, among them the home page, the product page and the elements of the site's style. We describe how we run Magento 2 implementations separately.
The store was integrated with BaseLinker and Ceneo. A custom module connecting the platform to the Piece of Case profile on Instagram was delivered as well.
The custom Improved Sorting module added five sorting methods: newest, cheapest, most expensive, most popular and on promotion.
The module lets a customer check whether the case they have chosen is in stock, and in what quantity.
The module generates product photos with a chosen pattern for the available smartphone models. The store's staff therefore do not have to prepare separate image files in software like Photoshop each time.
