Magento 1 had stopped leaving room for the store to grow

The Hulajnogi Micro store had run on Magento 1 from the start of the business. The owners knew the platform well, but over time its outdated version began to limit how far the store could develop.

In 2020 Adobe announced it was ending support for the first version of Magento in favour of Magento 2. For Hulajnogi Micro the outdated system meant a slower store and no room for further development.

The design needed changing too — it no longer reflected current trends. Hulajnogi Micro came to Aurora Creation with a migration to carry out.

Project timeline

  1. 2009

    Hulajnogi Micro starts trading

The company began selling the Swiss manufacturer's scooters to retailers and to individual customers.

  2. From the start

A store built on Magento 1

Hulajnogi Micro ran its online store on the first version of Magento.

  3. 2020

The need to migrate to Magento 2

After Adobe announced the end of support for Magento 1, Hulajnogi Micro came to Aurora Creation with a migration to carry out.

The areas that had to change

  • 01

Migrating off an outdated Magento 1

The previous version of the system made the store slower and left no room for further development. Moving to Magento 2 was necessary.

  • 02

    Changing the existing design

The look of the store no longer reflected current trends and had to change as part of the move to Magento 2.

  • 03

    Moving the B2B channel online

Sales to trusted contractors ran over e-mail and phone. The B2B version was above all meant to automate those orders and take the load off the team.

  • 04

Integrating the range with the Decathlon offer

Decathlon was a key business partner of Hulajnogi Micro. The project covered a module that lets the client's range be integrated with that chain's offer.

The work the project covered

The project combined a platform migration with a B2B channel and the integrations needed in selling and in running the store.

  1. 01

Migration from Magento 1 to Magento 2

The Hulajnogi Micro store, which had run on Magento 1, was moved to Magento 2.

  2. 02

    Opineo integration

The Opineo module was implemented in the store. Hulajnogi Micro has collected over 2,000 reviews on the service, and in 2023 received a distinction in the Sport category.

  3. 03

    Fakturownia.pl integration

The store was integrated with Fakturownia.pl. The integration eases access to accounting and automates invoicing, which makes the sales process less time-consuming.

  4. 04

    Decathlon integration through Mirakl

A Mirakl module was implemented, integrating the Hulajnogi Micro range with the Decathlon offer. It passes selected products over together with their stock levels and product data.

  5. 05

    B2B platform implementation

A version of the store for business customers went live. Access goes to approved users, for whom accounts are created in the admin panel.

Magento 2 connected to the systems and channels used in selling

After the migration the store runs on Magento 2. The same project delivered integrations with Opineo, Fakturownia.pl and Decathlon through the Mirakl module.

Opineo collects customer reviews after purchase, Fakturownia.pl supports access to accounting and automates invoicing, and the Mirakl module passes selected products together with their stock levels and product data into the Decathlon offer. The figure draws each of these as a connection rather than as a flow — the source material describes what an integration is for, not the order in which it synchronises.

B2B sales moved off e-mail and the phone into the online store

Before the implementation, sales to trusted contractors ran over e-mail and phone. The B2B version of the store was meant to automate those orders and cut down how much of the team's time they took.

How a contractor reaches an order

  1. 01The user is approved by Hulajnogi Micro.
  2. 02An account is created for the approved user in the admin panel.
  3. 03The user can sign in to the B2B platform.
  4. 04Once signed in, they get access to prices and the ability to place orders.

The idea for a B2B store came from the Polish arm of Hulajnogi Micro. The implementation was the start of automating wholesale trade across European markets throughout the group.

Selected elements of the implementation

Extensive product filtering

The store gained extensive filters that make it easier for customers to find the right products.

Opineo in the Hulajnogi Micro store

The project implemented the Opineo module. Hulajnogi Micro has collected over 2,000 reviews, and in 2023 received a distinction in the Sport category.

  • Passing products to Decathlon

The Mirakl module lets Hulajnogi Micro pick specific products, set their stock level and send over the description, photographs and price. Decathlon then chooses which products to list in its own e‑commerce.

  • Information about the order's source

After a purchase, the Micro seller panel shows information identifying where the order came from.

  • Controlled access to the B2B platform

Only users approved by Hulajnogi Micro, for whom accounts have been created in the admin panel, can sign in to the platform. They alone can see prices and place orders.

A migration to Magento 2 and growth in online sales

The project ended with the store migrated to Magento 2, the B2B platform live and the planned integrations in place.

The case study points to three direct effects: a higher conversion rate, extensive filters, and smoother work with distributors through the business version of the store.

Common questions about the Hulajnogi Micro project

The essentials of the Magento migration, the B2B platform and the integrations delivered as part of the project.

Let's discuss a similar project

The outdated version of Magento made the store slower and left no room for further development. On top of that, the existing design no longer reflected current trends. We describe the scope of such a move on our migration to Magento 2 page.

The scope covered migration from Magento 1 to Magento 2, an Opineo integration, a B2B platform, a Fakturownia.pl integration and a Decathlon integration.

Only users approved by Hulajnogi Micro, for whom accounts have been created in the admin panel, can sign in to the platform. They alone have access to prices and the ability to place orders. We describe similar arrangements under B2B implementations on Magento 2.

The Mirakl module that was implemented lets specific products be selected, their stock level set, and the description, photographs and price passed over. Decathlon then chooses which products to list in its own e‑commerce.

The case study points to a higher conversion rate, extensive filters that make it easier for customers to find products, and smoother work with distributors thanks to the B2B version of the store. The results can be seen in the live store (opens in a new tab).
