The key solutions in the Paxit project

Magento 2
A new online store, built after an analysis of the limits of the existing platform.
B2B + B2C
One platform for business and individual customers, with dedicated B2B features and a design that accounts for both.
Doofinder
An AI-based search that reads the intent behind a query and suggests results after a few characters — with a catalogue as broad as Paxit's, it is the main route to a product.
One Page Checkout
An order completed on a single page, with a company / private person switch and both net and gross prices.
BaseLinker
Magento 2 integrated with BaseLinker on the order-handling side. The source material does not state what data the two exchange.
Thulium
The customer-service integration, needed because some Paxit orders start on the phone rather than in the basket.
Packaging configuration tools
The store carries a print designer and a made-to-measure carton configurator. The source material confirms both are on Paxit.pl but does not attribute building them to Aurora Creation.

The project began as a plan to take over the existing store

Paxit first came to Aurora Creation about starting work that would cover care of the existing store and a list of fixes.

The analysis showed that further development of the platform was heavily limited by technical neglect left by the previous supplier. Together with the client we therefore decided to build a new online store on Magento 2.

The project set out to create a stable, scalable platform that would simplify managing the range and make it quicker to add further features.

Project timeline

  1. 01

A plan to take over care

The first conversation was about care of the running store and a list of fixes to make in it.

  2. 02

    Analysis of the existing solution

We reviewed the technical state of the platform and identified the limits standing in the way of its further development.

  3. 03

The decision to build a new Magento 2 store

On the basis of that analysis, together with Paxit we decided to build a new online store.

Three areas the new platform had to bring together

  • 01

The limits of the existing store

Technical neglect left by the previous supplier heavily limited further development of the platform. That is why a project meant to cover care and fixes turned into a new Magento 2 build.

  • 02

    A broad and varied range

Paxit can make almost any pattern and size of carton, which makes for a very broad range. The task in the project was to connect it to an ERP system in a way that supports maximum automation and a smooth sales process: from the order, through production, to shipping and invoicing.

  • 03

    Online and traditional sales

Paxit customers place orders online and by phone, and some of them buy on terms tied to their accounts. E‑commerce had to be joined to the traditional sales model and account for the flow between those channels.

From an analysis of the existing store to the Magento 2 go-live

The work began with a technical analysis of the existing platform and with identifying the limits on its development. On that basis we prepared a migration strategy and a map of functionality, and then ran the design, the development, the data migration and the testing that ended in the launch of the store.

This is how we run every build on this platform.

Magento 2 implementations
  1. 01

    Analysis of the current state

We reviewed the code, the infrastructure, the UX and the data flow in the existing store.

  2. 02

Migration strategy and map of functionality

On the basis of the analysis we prepared a migration strategy and a map of functionality matched to the specifics of the project and to what its users expect.

  3. 03

    Graphic design

We prepared a responsive layout matched to the character of the brand and to the expectations of B2B and B2C customers.

  4. 04

Front end, back end and bespoke modules

We delivered the front-end and back-end development, built the bespoke modules and implemented the prepared design.

  5. 05

    Product data migration

We moved the key information about the range, the variants and their configuration.

  6. 06

    Testing and go-live

We ran multi-stage testing of the features, and then launched the store in the production environment.

Magento 2 connected to the systems that handle sales and customers

The project covered connecting Paxit's extensive range to an ERP system, and integrating Magento 2 with BaseLinker, Thulium and Trusted. Each of these covers a different area of the sales process or of customer service.

Connecting the range to the ERP system was meant to support automation and a smooth sales process: from placing the order, through production, to shipping and invoicing. BaseLinker automates stock levels and order management, Thulium is the CRM used for customer service, and Trusted is a review system that supports the credibility of the brand and lets customers check the ratings other buyers have given. The source material does not name the ERP system, so neither does this page.

The whole order completed on one page

We implemented One Page Checkout in the store. It lets the entire order-completion process run in a single view, and it was part of work aimed at simplifying the purchase.

What a single view gives

  1. 01The form tells an individual customer from a business one.
  2. 02Customer details, the available delivery options and the payment methods are shown without walking through a sequence of checkout steps.
  3. 03A dynamic message states the cut-off time after which an order ships later.
  4. 04BLIK is given prominence as the preferred payment method.

One Page Checkout was implemented as part of a solution joining e‑commerce to Paxit's traditional sales model. The aim was to make the purchase process more effective and to reduce the number of abandoned carts.

One Page Checkout: customer details with a “company” and “private person” switch, delivery and payment methods with BLIK first, and a summary showing both net and gross prices.

Search, B2B features and the tools available at Paxit.pl

An AI-based Doofinder search

We implemented the Doofinder search in the new store. It recognises what a user is looking for, suggests results after only a few characters and takes product popularity into account. It was chosen for Paxit's broad range, to make it easier for users to reach the products they are after.

Features for B2B customers

Business customers got a set of dedicated features.

  • net and gross prices told apart
  • industry catalogues
  • a fast B2B checkout automating the purchase process

The print designer

Paxit.pl carries a designer that lets a customer create the print on their packaging themselves. They can pick a template, add text, a logo or social media icons, and work with the colours of the print.

A configurator for cartons made to size

Paxit.pl also offers a configurator for quoting and ordering a flap carton made to an individual size.

The print designer and the configurator are available in the Paxit store. The source material confirms they are there, but does not attribute building them to Aurora Creation, so this page does not state our share in either tool.

The new Magento 2 platform live in production

The project ended with the launch of the new online store on Magento 2. The build covered the migration of product data, integrations with the systems that handle sales and customers, B2B features, the Doofinder search and One Page Checkout.

The new version of the store put internal processes in order and gave the Paxit team more control over managing sales. The platform was also prepared as a base for further integrations and for developing the range.

Paxit: the essentials about the project

The scope of the build, the integrations and the features used to construct the new Magento 2 store.

Paxit first came to us about care of the existing store and a list of fixes. The analysis showed, however, that further development of it was heavily limited by technical neglect left by the previous supplier. Together with the client we therefore decided to build a new store on Magento 2.

The project covered an analysis of the existing solution, a migration strategy and map of functionality, graphic design, front-end and back-end development, bespoke modules, product data migration, testing and go-live. We also implemented the integrations, the B2B features, Doofinder and One Page Checkout. How we run Magento 2 implementations is described separately.

The project covered connecting the extensive range to an ERP system, and integrating Magento 2 with BaseLinker, Thulium and Trusted. The name of the ERP system in use is not given in the source material.

The scope covered telling net and gross prices apart, industry catalogues and a fast B2B checkout automating the purchase process. The full scope of such a project is described on the B2C + B2B implementation on Magento 2 page.

We implemented the AI-based Doofinder search in the store. It recognises what a user is looking for, suggests results after only a few characters and takes product popularity into account.

We implemented One Page Checkout, so the whole order-completion process happens on a single page. The form adapts to an individual or a business customer and shows the available delivery and payment options without walking through further steps.

Is your current store limiting how far sales can grow?

Describe the platform your store runs on, the limits you meet in the current solution, and the integrations and features you need.

On that basis we can establish the scope of a conversation about a new Magento 2 build.
