How much does Magento 2 cost? Implementation, maintenance and development

Magento 2 Open Source is free, but implementing a store and maintaining it afterwards each need a budget of their own. In Poland you can launch Magento 2 with a Hyvä frontend for PLN 39,000 net within a defined implementation scope. Larger projects, with custom integrations, B2B sales or data migration from another platform, need a separate quote.

  3. 03HostingFrom PLN 700 a month, administration included.
  4. 04MaintenanceFrom PLN 2,500 a month, with monitoring and an SLA.

After launch come the recurring costs. In Aurora Creation's offer, Magento 2 hosting with administration starts at PLN 700 net a month, and technical maintenance with monitoring and an SLA at PLN 2,500 net a month.

That means a sample store can run to PLN 3,200 net a month in hosting and technical care. Any licences for additional tools and planned feature development come on top of that.

The exact cost, however, depends on what the store has to handle. A manufacturer launching its first D2C channel needs a different solution from a company that sells retail and B2B at the same time, with individual price lists for distributors, several warehouses and an ERP integration.

Below we set out the prices of the individual parts of Magento 2, sample calculations and the points worth watching when you compare agencies' proposals.

Prices in PLN are net amounts. Aurora Creation's service prices come from the agency's public offer and apply to defined scopes. They are not market averages.

How much does Magento 2 cost in 2026? A price overview

The total cost of Magento 2 is made up of licences, implementation, infrastructure, technical maintenance and later development of the store. Not every one of these is mandatory in every project.

The service amounts are examples from Aurora Creation's offer. They give you a real point of reference, but they should not be read as the standard prices of every Magento agency.

When planning a budget, it is worth counting separately:

  • the launch cost, that is, getting the store ready for its first sale;
  • the maintenance cost, that is, what it takes to keep the platform stable and secure;
  • the development cost, that is, changes meant to extend what the store can do or adapt it to the company's next needs.

That split matters when you compare Magento with SaaS platforms. A low starting price does not always mean the lowest cost of running a store over several years. Likewise, a higher implementation price is not necessarily unjustified if it covers processes another proposal left out.

Is Magento 2 free? The licence cost of Open Source and Adobe Commerce

The name Magento 2 covers products with different licensing terms. Before a quote, you need to settle which of them the store will be built on.

Magento Open Source: PLN 0 for the licence

Magento Open Source is free e‑commerce software developed in the open. You can use it without paying a licence fee for the platform itself.

This is confirmed by the official Magento Open Source page (opens in a new tab).

The Open Source edition provides, among other things:

  • management of products, categories and variants;
  • customers, the cart and orders;
  • price rules and promotions;
  • configuration of several websites, stores and store views;
  • content management;
  • an API for integrating Magento with other systems;
  • the ability to install extensions and build your own features.

No licence fee does not mean, however, that Adobe provides free hosting, server administration or technical support.

A company using Magento Open Source is itself responsible for providing suitable infrastructure and organising the work of maintaining the platform. It can do this with its own team or hand it to a Magento agency.

Say a manufacturer launches a D2C store on Magento Open Source. It pays Adobe no subscription for the software itself. It does bear the costs of building the store, hosting, ongoing maintenance and any extensions.

Adobe Commerce: the paid version of Magento

Adobe Commerce is a commercial product. Compared with Magento Open Source it offers additional capabilities, including extensive B2B sales features.

Several Adobe Commerce delivery models need to be told apart, though:

Delivery models of Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce, and who provides the infrastructure

The Adobe Commerce models differ in how much control you have over the application, how it is extended and who is responsible for updates.

Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service, for example, is a SaaS offering in which Adobe manages the core application, the infrastructure and updates. The on-premises and PaaS models allow different ways of customising and maintaining the code.

Adobe does not publish a single Adobe Commerce licence price for every company.

Commercial terms are agreed individually. You can check the current offer model on the official Adobe Commerce pricing page (opens in a new tab).

Before comparing costs, establish which services and resources the contract includes. Do not automatically add separate hosting to an option where suitable infrastructure is already covered by the Adobe Commerce fee.

Is Magento Open Source always cheaper than Adobe Commerce?

That cannot be judged from the licence price alone.

Magento Open Source avoids the cost of commercial software. But if the company needs many advanced features that Adobe Commerce provides out of the box or through its products, you need to compare the cost of building and later maintaining them yourself.

B2B sales are a good example. A standard Magento Open Source install does not include the full set of B2B features that Adobe Commerce offers.

Complex company account structures, order approval processes or quote negotiation may call for additional extensions or custom development.

That is why, before choosing a Magento edition, it is worth comparing the total cost of the solution over several years, not just the first invoice. We cover the differences between the editions in more depth in our comparison of Magento 2 with other open-source platforms.

How much does a Magento 2 store implementation cost?

The cost of a Magento 2 implementation depends on the project scope, how the frontend is built, the number of integrations, the sales processes and how much data is migrated.

There is no single price that fits every store.

Importantly, catalogue size alone does not decide the cost. A store with 20,000 well-organised products and a standard purchase path can be simpler than a platform with 800 products but individual B2B price lists and many processes handled by the ERP.

A Magento 2 implementation for PLN 39,000 net: AURORA ONE

Aurora Creation offers a Magento 2 implementation with a Hyvä frontend as AURORA ONE for PLN 39,000 net.

It is a specific offer for projects that meet the requirements of a standard implementation. It covers one market, one language version and one main currency.

The scope includes, among other things:

  • installing and configuring Magento 2;
  • a Hyvä frontend tailored to the brand identity;
  • configuration of the core sales features;
  • the standard store views;
  • moving products and customer accounts within an agreed scope;
  • the ElasticSuite search engine;
  • Google Tag Manager and GA4 configuration;
  • testing the main purchase paths;
  • launching the store in production;
  • 10 hours of support and an SLA in the first month after launch.

The planned implementation time is 1 to 3 months, provided the project's start conditions are met and the necessary materials are delivered.

What matters, though, is what the standard price does not cover.

An extensive ERP integration, custom B2B processes, migrating order history, a complex SEO migration or a bespoke design of every view from scratch all need a separate analysis and quote.

The same applies when a new store has to serve several markets with different sales rules from day one.

PLN 39,000 net is the price of the specific AURORA ONE scope, not a universal price for implementing any Magento 2 store.

Can a Magento 2 implementation be paid in instalments?

Yes, at least with some offers on the market.

Aurora Creation offers two ways to pay for the standard AURORA ONE scope:

Payment options for an AURORA ONE implementation and their total net cost
Payment optionTotal net cost
4 tranches of PLN 9,750PLN 39,000
12 instalments of PLN 3,800PLN 45,600

4 tranches of PLN 9,750

Total net cost

PLN 39,000

12 instalments of PLN 3,800

Total net cost

PLN 45,600

The twelve-month option adds up to more than the base implementation price. When comparing proposals, check not just the size of the instalment but the sum of all payments.

Spreading the implementation cost over several months also does not mean the store's other running costs are automatically included in the instalment.

How much does a custom Magento 2 implementation cost?

A custom Magento 2 implementation has no fixed price. It requires an estimate of the actual scope of work.

A large project can cost more than PLN 100,000 net, and with many non-standard processes and integrations the budget can reach several hundred thousand złoty. These are not official Adobe price ranges, however, nor a verified average for the Polish market. Every project has to be assessed on its own.

Compare two scenarios.

  1. 01

    Scenario A: a manufacturer launches a new D2C store

    The company has its product data ready, wants to sell in one market and needs standard catalogue, cart, payment and delivery features. It does not need extensive integrations with internal systems.

    Such a project can fit a fixed-scope implementation model.

  2. 02

    Scenario B: a manufacturer launches a D2C and B2B platform

    The company wants to sell directly to consumers and to its distributors. Trading partners have individual prices and purchasing terms, and product availability has to match the data in the ERP.

    On top of that, B2B orders have to respect credit limits, the right account managers and a specific way of fulfilling deliveries.

    In a project like this you design not only the store's interface but also how the business processes work and how information flows between systems.

It is these differences that decide the development scope and the cost. You can read more about such a solution on the Magento 2 implementation for B2C and B2B sales page.

What does the cost of a Magento 2 implementation depend on?

  1. 01

    The scope of the pre-implementation analysis

    For a simple store, many decisions can rest on a prepared implementation standard.

    A larger project needs a pre-implementation analysis of the sales processes, integrations, data and the requirements of individual departments.

    For example, you need to decide whether product prices will be managed in Magento or in the ERP. If the company has individual price lists for trading partners, it also needs rules for assigning and updating them.

    Ambiguity in an area like this can turn into extra work during development.

  2. 02

    The frontend and a custom UX/UI design

    A store can use ready-made frontend components or be designed from scratch.

    In the first case, part of the technical and design work already exists. In the second, new views, interface elements and the logic behind them have to be built.

    A custom design can be justified, especially with an unusual way of choosing products, configurators or complex purchase processes.

    Not every store needs one, though.

  3. 03

    Integrating Magento with ERP, PIM, WMS and CRM

    Integrations are one of the areas whose cost is hardest to state without knowing the company's processes.

    The phrase “Magento–ERP integration” can hide very different requirements.

    In one store it is enough to pull prices and stock levels and push orders. Another needs individual B2B price lists, trading partners, sales documents and data from several warehouses kept in sync.

    How errors are handled matters too.

    Say Magento sends an order to the ERP. The ERP saves the order, but the response never reaches Magento. If the integration automatically retries without checking whether the order already exists, a duplicate can appear.

    That is why more advanced integrations include queues, retry mechanisms, duplicate protection, monitoring and tests of failure scenarios.

    An integration like that takes more work than a simple, one-off data exchange.

  4. 04

    Migrating data from the current store

    If the company is moving to Magento 2, it has to decide which data it wants to keep.

    A basic product catalogue migration is usually simpler than moving all customers, order history, price rules, CMS content and custom features.

    Inconsistent data is a further challenge.

    For example, the same product may exist under different SKUs, and its variants may be defined differently in the store and in the ERP.

    Problems like these have to be solved before the new platform launches, not after the migration.

  5. 05

    B2B sales

    B2B sales can call for solutions a standard D2C store does not need.

    They include individual prices, company account structures, roles for the trading partner's staff, credit limits, quick ordering of larger quantities and specific approval processes.

    You also need to settle which features should live in Magento and which the ERP already handles.

    Duplicating the same processes across several systems raises the cost of implementation and of later maintenance.

  6. 06

    The number of markets, currencies and languages

    Magento 2 has an architecture that can run several websites, stores and store views in one installation.

    That does not mean, however, that launching a new country comes down to translating content.

    Another market may have different tax rules, delivery methods, payments, prices and requirements for how products are presented.

    The more individual differences there are, the larger the scope of configuration, integration and testing.

  7. 07

    Testing, security and launch

    The quote should include the work needed to verify that the store works correctly.

    That covers testing the cart, payments, orders, integrations, user permissions and how the application behaves when external systems fail.

    In more advanced projects, performance and regression tests matter as well.

    Make sure the proposal states who is responsible for testing, fixes and the production launch.

How these pieces fit into the stages of a project is described in the article What does a Magento 2 implementation look like?

How much does Magento 2 with a Hyvä frontend cost?

Hyvä is a frontend for Magento 2. It lets you build the store's interface on a lighter frontend layer, using Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js among others.

In November 2025 the licensing model of Hyvä Theme changed.

Since 10 November 2025, Hyvä Theme has been free and open source.

This is confirmed by Hyvä's official announcement (opens in a new tab).

That does not mean, however, that implementing a store with Hyvä is free.

The store's look still has to be designed, components configured, the extensions in use adapted and the key purchase processes tested.

Bear in mind, too, that not every Hyvä product is free. Hyvä Checkout and Hyvä Commerce come under separate licensing terms.

When comparing agencies' proposals, it is therefore worth separating the cost of the software itself from the cost of development work.

How much does migrating a store to Magento 2 cost?

Migrating an existing store needs its own analysis, because besides building the new platform you have to move the data correctly and keep sales running.

Moving a simple PrestaShop store takes a different scope of work from migrating a large Shopify or Shopware platform or an older Magento installation.

The cost is driven mainly by:

  • the number and structure of products and variants;
  • how much of the customer accounts and order history is migrated;
  • the number of custom features;
  • existing integrations;
  • the need to move content;
  • SEO requirements;
  • the number of markets and language versions.

Preserving URLs and setting up the right redirects needs particular care.

If the store has built up organic traffic over the years, a badly run migration can cost some products, categories or articles their visibility.

You also have to allow for the limits on moving customer passwords. Not every platform stores passwords in a way that allows them to be migrated directly to Magento.

Aurora Creation carries out online store migrations to Magento 2, covering analysis of the current platform, data transfer, integrations, SEO preparation and launch of the new environment. The scope is set individually, depending on the state of the current store.

How much does Magento 2 hosting cost?

Magento Open Source needs properly configured infrastructure. Besides the web server and the database, it uses caching, a search engine and background processes, among other things.

The cost of hosting depends on resources, user traffic, the product catalogue, integrations and availability requirements.

Sample prices can be given based on Aurora Creation's Magento 2 hosting offer.

For the VPS and the dedicated server, the amounts cover the infrastructure and the administration services described.

For AWS, the cost of the cloud resources used has to be calculated separately.

Does Magento 2 need a dedicated server?

Not always.

A properly prepared VPS can be enough to run a Magento 2 store if its load and requirements fit within the available resources.

A dedicated server or larger infrastructure can be justified by higher traffic, heavy data imports, many integrations or more demanding processes.

The choice of infrastructure should follow from the project's real requirements, not from the mere fact of using Magento.

What should the price of Magento hosting include?

When comparing offers, look beyond the CPU, RAM and disk space.

What also matters:

  • server administration and updates to infrastructure components;
  • service monitoring;
  • backups;
  • the ability to restore the store after an outage;
  • management of certificates and infrastructure security;
  • the scope of technical support.

It is also worth asking about test and staging environments, especially if the store will be developed regularly.

How much does monthly Magento 2 maintenance cost?

Implementing and launching the store does not end the work of keeping it running technically.

Magento needs security updates, monitoring, outage response and keeping the components in use compatible.

A store can run correctly for a long time, and still newly found vulnerabilities, integration errors or infrastructure failures can call for urgent intervention.

That is why it is worth arranging technical care before sales begin.

How much does Magento 2 maintenance cost at Aurora Creation?

Aurora Creation offers Magento 2 maintenance as AURORA CARE. It is a monthly technical service covering monitoring, security, outage handling and an SLA.

There are three packages, differing in the team's hours of availability.

AURORA CARE packages: net monthly price and the team's hours of availability
PackageNet price per monthTeam availability
AURORA CARE BASICPLN 2,5008:00–16:00, working days

AURORA CARE PRIORITY

Net price per month

PLN 5,500

Team availability

24/7

Every package has the same core maintenance scope. The difference is the team's availability.

The care covers store monitoring, handling critical outages, security updates, basic stability care and technical adjustments to legal changes within the scope of the service.

That is an important distinction. If a problem can be detected automatically, the client should not be the only one who learns about it first.

Monitoring can, for example, detect a stopped process responsible for certain background tasks, or a problem affecting order placement. That lets diagnosis start sooner, instead of waiting for reports from the store's users.

What is an SLA in Magento 2 maintenance?

An SLA (Service Level Agreement) sets the agreed parameters of the service, including support availability and commitments on handling outages.

For AURORA CARE, the public offer states a response time of up to 2 hours and a fix time of up to 4 hours under the rules of the chosen package. The detailed terms, incident classification and exceptions should be checked in the SLA agreement.

When comparing offers, watch the difference between response time and fix time.

Response time is about starting to handle a ticket. Fix time refers to the commitment to restore correct operation, under the terms of the agreement.

The words “24/7 support” on their own do not yet say on what terms and how quickly the provider must act.

Does Magento 2 maintenance include updates?

Ongoing technical care should cover responding to vulnerabilities and installing agreed security updates.

That work has to be kept apart, however, from larger Magento version upgrades, which may require code changes, adapting extensions and extensive testing.

In Aurora Creation's offer, security updates belong to AURORA CARE, while larger upgrades that need a project of their own are delivered as development tasks.

Is hosting included in the price of Magento maintenance?

Do not assume so.

At Aurora Creation, hosting with server administration and AURORA CARE are separate services. They can be used together, but their prices have to be added up.

For example:

How much does developing a Magento 2 store cost?

The cost of Magento 2 development depends on the type and scope of the changes.

After launch, a company may need a new purchase process, another integration, a rebuilt product page or extended B2B features.

Not every such change is large. What matters is checking its impact on the existing code and connected systems.

Adding a new field to the order form, for example, may require not only a frontend change but also saving the data in Magento and passing it to the ERP.

Magento 2 development: hourly billing or a fixed price?

There are different ways of billing development work on the market.

In the hourly model, the client pays for the time worked. With a fixed price, the price of the agreed scope is known before the work starts.

Aurora Creation offers fixed-price Magento 2 development as AURORA EVOLUTION.

Before a task starts, its scope, acceptance criteria and price are agreed. If the agreed task takes longer than planned, the cost of the accepted scope does not go up.

Additional requirements that come up later get a separate quote.

AURORA EVOLUTION covers planned development of the store. Maintenance, monitoring, outages and security updates remain the separate domain of AURORA CARE.

How much does adding another market to Magento 2 cost?

As AURORA CROSS, Aurora Creation offers launching another market in an existing Magento 2 store for PLN 8,000 net.

The price covers one additional market to a defined standard, using the current template and architecture of the running store.

The scope can include configuring the market version, language, domain, currency, taxes and basic sales settings, and importing supplied translations.

The fixed price depends on being able to reuse existing solutions, without building new, custom integrations and processes.

If launching a new country requires rebuilding the checkout, adding new modules or an extensive ERP integration, that work is quoted separately.

How much does Magento 2 cost in the first year?

The implementation cost alone does not show what budget is needed to run the store over the following months.

That is why it is worth preparing a calculation that covers implementation, hosting and technical maintenance.

The examples below are based on Aurora Creation's public prices. They assume an implementation within the standard AURORA ONE scope and 12 months of paid hosting and maintenance, counted from the production launch.

This is a cautious way to plan a budget. AURORA ONE also includes 10 hours of support and an SLA in the first month after launch. How that support hands over to an AURORA CARE subscription should be agreed in the contract, so that the scopes of the services and any overlap are accounted for correctly.

Example 1. A standard Magento 2 store with basic maintenance

A manufacturer launches a new D2C store in one market. It chooses an AURORA ONE implementation, VPS hosting and the basic maintenance package.

Example 1: first-year cost of an AURORA ONE implementation, VPS hosting and AURORA CARE BASIC

On these assumptions, the company should plan PLN 77,400 net for the implementation and the store's first year after launch.

This is not the total cost of running an e‑commerce business. The calculation leaves out, among other things, marketing, payment provider fees, order handling costs, additional licences and planned development.

Example 2. A Magento 2 store with extended technical care

The company chooses the same implementation standard but needs longer team availability and a dedicated server.

Both examples assume the store fits the standard AURORA ONE scope. These amounts cannot be applied automatically to a B2B platform with dedicated integrations or a custom frontend.

How much does Magento 2 cost over 3 years? A TCO calculation

TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) means the full cost of owning and using a solution over a given period.

For Magento 2, it is worth including at least the cost of launch, infrastructure, maintenance, additional licences and planned changes.

Take the first example again: AURORA ONE for PLN 39,000, VPS hosting for PLN 700 a month and AURORA CARE BASIC for PLN 2,500 a month.

Three-year net cost of implementation, VPS hosting and AURORA CARE BASIC
PeriodNet cost

Third year: hosting and maintenance

Net cost

PLN 38,400

Total

Net cost

PLN 154,200

At unchanged rates, the three-year cost of implementation, hosting and maintenance therefore comes to PLN 154,200 net.

The calculation covers three years from the production launch plus the one-off implementation cost. It does not cover any longer use of the infrastructure before launch.

Nor does it include paid extensions, separate upgrades, development, price changes or additional integrations. It is therefore a simplified TCO example for three specific services, not a full cost forecast for any store.

How do you plan a budget for Magento 2 development?

It is worth separating the spending needed to keep the platform stable from investment in extending it.

A manufacturer might, for example, plan to launch a new market in year two and to expand B2B sales in year three.

These are not ongoing maintenance costs. They are separate projects whose scope and price should be set from their requirements.

When building a budget for the coming years, prepare a base cost scenario first and then add the planned development tasks.

What additional Magento 2 costs should you allow for?

The implementation price and the monthly maintenance fee do not always cover everything needed to run e‑commerce.

Paid modules and extensions

Magento has a large extension ecosystem. Some extensions are free; others carry licence or subscription fees.

Before buying, check the update terms, the availability of support, compatibility with your Magento version and whether the module works with the chosen frontend.

A module that at first looks cheaper than building your own can bring extra costs at upgrades or architecture changes.

External tools

A store may use paid search, marketing automation, analytics, marketplace integration, review management and other tools.

Payment provider fees and other transaction charges come on top.

Not all of these costs are specific to Magento, but they belong in the overall e‑commerce budget.

Preparing product data

Putting the product catalogue in order can take extra work, especially for manufacturers with a large range and many variants.

Technical data, descriptions, media and category structures should be prepared so they can be imported correctly and updated later.

With ERP and PIM integration, it also matters to settle which system owns which information.

Larger platform upgrades

Upgrades may require changes to installed modules, custom code and integrations.

The scope of that work depends on the technical state of the store and the extent of earlier modifications.

It is worth agreeing before the implementation how larger upgrades will be planned and quoted.

The client team's time

The budget should also account for the time of the people responsible for e‑commerce, product data, logistics, accounting and internal systems.

The company's staff have to make decisions, supply data and take part in testing.

This is especially important in projects involving ERP, WMS and B2B sales.

Why do Magento 2 quotes differ between agencies?

Say a company receives two proposals for a Magento 2 implementation. The first is PLN 50,000 and the second PLN 120,000 net.

The amounts alone do not tell you which is the better deal.

The first proposal may cover an implementation on a ready-made frontend, a basic product migration and standard purchase processes.

The second may include a custom UX/UI design, rebuilt integrations, a full data migration, performance testing and a wider scope of the vendor's responsibility.

It can also be the other way round: the more expensive proposal need not include a proportionally larger scope.

That is why, before choosing an agency, it is worth comparing several areas:

  1. Do the proposals concern the same version of Magento?
  2. Which features does the price cover?
  3. Is the frontend built from scratch or from ready-made components?
  4. How precisely is the integration scope described?
  5. Does the quote include migration and SEO protection?
  6. Which tests are run before launch?
  7. How are scope changes billed?
  8. Who is responsible for maintenance and hosting after launch?
  9. Will the client get access to the code and the solution's documentation?
  10. What costs may come up in the first year?

A well-prepared proposal answers these questions without leaving you to guess what the agency meant.

How can you lower the cost of implementing and maintaining Magento 2?

The biggest savings do not always come from negotiating development rates. Often more can be gained by limiting the project scope sensibly and avoiding unnecessary modifications.

Do not build every feature at once

A company launching its first D2C store does not need, from the start, everything required for future sales in several markets.

Allow for growth in the architecture, but some features can be added later.

Use what Magento offers as standard

Custom solutions are justified when they meet a real business need.

If standard Magento or a proven extension already handles a process, building your own alternative does not always make sense.

Every additional modification can raise the later cost of maintenance and upgrades.

Clean up your data before the implementation

Correct SKUs, consistent product variants, unambiguous prices and clearly defined data sources reduce the risk of rework during the project.

This matters especially with larger catalogues and ERP and PIM integrations.

Look after documentation and code quality

Poorly built extensions and missing documentation can make the platform harder to develop.

If you change agency, the new vendor then has to spend more time understanding the existing solution.

Plan maintenance before the store launches

Know who will handle outages, updates and infrastructure before the first production order.

Taking over a store later without documentation, monitoring and agreed responsibilities can require extra work.

When does Magento 2 pay off, and when should you consider another platform?

Magento 2 is worth considering especially when e‑commerce needs advanced processes, many integrations or a lot of freedom to develop your own solution.

It can be the right choice for manufacturers selling D2C and B2B, brands planning to sell abroad and companies for which the store is a significant part of a wider sales system.

A manufacturer might, for example, use an ERP for operational processes, a PIM for product data and Magento for online sales. With those systems integrated, the same data does not have to be updated by hand in several places.

That does not mean, however, that Magento is the best solution for every business.

If a company needs a simple store with basic features, few integrations and the lowest possible cost to start selling, SaaS solutions are worth comparing too.

The choice of platform should take into account the planned sales model, technical requirements, the team's capabilities and the budget for the next few years. The situations in which Magento makes sense are covered in the article Magento 2 – what it is and what it is for.

How do you prepare for a Magento 2 quote?

You do not need a multi-page technical specification for the first conversation with an agency.

It is worth, however, putting in order the business information that will let the project scope be defined.

The key questions concern:

  • what products the company sells and to whom;
  • whether the store is to serve retail customers, business customers or both;
  • whether the company already runs e‑commerce;
  • how many markets it intends to serve;
  • which ERP, PIM and WMS systems will be connected to the store;
  • which features are essential before launch;
  • which development stages are planned for the coming years.

On that basis an agency can propose a suitable architecture, set the implementation scope and prepare a quote.

What matters most is comparing the total cost of the solution, not just the amount on the first page of the proposal.

FAQ: How much does Magento 2 cost?

It depends on the implementation scope. Aurora Creation offers a standard implementation of a new Magento 2 store with Hyvä for PLN 39,000 net. Projects with custom integrations, extensive B2B or a complex migration need a separate quote. Hosting, maintenance and any additional software have to be added to the launch cost.

Yes, Magento Open Source is free software with no licence fee for the platform itself. That does not make the store free, though, because you still need the implementation, infrastructure, maintenance and any extensions. Adobe Commerce is a separate, commercial product.

Magento Open Source has no standard licence subscription. Monthly costs come mainly from hosting, maintenance and additional services. For example, VPS hosting and the basic AURORA CARE package at Aurora Creation cost PLN 3,200 net a month together, without planned development.

At Aurora Creation the monthly AURORA CARE fee ranges from PLN 2,500 net for the BASIC package to PLN 5,500 net for PRIORITY. The packages differ in the team's hours of availability, from working-day support to round-the-clock cover. Hosting is billed separately.

A standard Magento 2 implementation with a Hyvä frontend as AURORA ONE costs PLN 39,000 net. The Hyvä Theme licence itself has been free since November 2025. The implementation price covers the work of building and launching the store within a defined scope, not just supplying the theme.

There is no single price for a Magento–ERP integration. The cost depends on the ERP system, the kind of data exchanged, the available API, the number of processes and the requirements for monitoring and error handling. A reliable quote needs the synchronisation scope and each system's responsibilities defined.

In a sample calculation based on AURORA ONE, VPS hosting and 12 months of AURORA CARE BASIC, the implementation and the store's first year cost PLN 77,400 net. That is an example for a defined set of services. It does not include additional integrations, paid extensions, development work or the other costs of running e‑commerce.

That cannot be said without comparing specific requirements. Shopify works on a subscription model, while Magento Open Source has no licence fee but comes with separate implementation and maintenance costs. With more complex sales processes, the cost of additional apps and integrations, the platform's limits and room for further development also matter.
